Alibaug Villas for Families With Young Children: Pools, Rooms and What to Ask
By Privy Stays · October 23, 2026 · Travel
Most family stay guides sort villas by size and style. With a toddler or a child who is still learning to swim, a different list matters more: where the water is, how deep it is, how far the bedrooms are from it, and who is watching. A listing can be warm and welcoming and still leave those questions open.
This guide reads the pool and room details on our own villa pages, explains what they mean for families with young children, and lists what to ask the team before you book. It sits within our wider guide to where to stay in Alibaug.
Quick answer
- Pool depth is the first thing to check. Of the twelve villa pages we reviewed for this guide, eleven state a private pool depth, and all eleven list 4.5 ft. Most describe it as uniform, which means there is no shallow end to stand in.
- Only Kurul Villa lists a separate children's pool, adjacent to the main pool. The other pages we reviewed do not mention one.
- Ground floor bedrooms help. Coast House lists all six bedrooms on the ground floor, and Kurul Villa lists four of its five.
- None of the pages describes pool fencing, gates or a lifeguard. Ask the team before you book, and plan to supervise the pool yourselves.

A depth of 4.5 ft is deeper than most young children can stand in. That is not a flaw in any one villa, and it is common for private pools built for adults and groups. It does mean that float seats, arm bands or a life jacket, and an adult within arm's reach, are part of the plan for any child who is not a confident swimmer.
Why this matters for young children
The World Health Organization notes that the highest drowning rates per population are among children aged 0 to 4, and that fencing swimming pools and otherwise controlling access to water hazards greatly reduces exposure and risk. It also says supervised childcare for preschool children can reduce drowning risk.
For a family on holiday, that translates into three practical points. Know where the pool is relative to the bedrooms and living areas. Know how access to it is controlled, such as a gate or a door that closes. And agree who is watching the water at any given moment, rather than assuming someone is.
Questions to ask before you book
None of the villa pages we reviewed describes pool fencing, gates or a lifeguard, although a few refer to pool safety guidelines in their policies section without detail. The team can answer these directly:
- Is the pool fenced or gated, and can the gate be closed and locked?
- Is there a shallow area or step, or is the whole pool at one depth?
- What are the pool timings? Ziva Villa's page lists pool hours until 7:00 PM. Ask whether the same applies to your villa.
- Are floats or life jackets available, or should you bring your own?
- Which bedrooms are on the ground floor, and where are the stairs relative to the pool?
- Who is on site, and how quickly can the team be reached if you need help in the evening?
Rooms, stairs and line of sight
For babies, toddlers and grandparents travelling with them, the bedroom layout can matter as much as the pool. Coast House lists all six bedrooms on the ground floor and describes the property as accessible without stairs. Kurul Villa lists four of its five bedrooms on the ground floor, with attached washrooms. Kylo Villa's page says its ground floor glass doors make it easier for families to keep an eye on the water.
Some of our larger villas are built over several floors. Ziva Villa is described as three storeys, and Casa de KTN Villa has a rooftop jacuzzi on its top floor. Neither is a problem, but with small children you will want to know which rooms are close to the family area and where the stairs are.
Choosing between a villa and a resort room
A private pool gives your family control over who uses the water and when, but it also means all supervision is yours. A resort pool is shared with other guests, which can mean more people around and more activity at peak hours. Casa Sereno and Blue Waves Resort both list a shared pool. The Enchanted Nest lists a swimming pool among its grounds. Our guide to villa vs resort vs hotel in Alibaug covers the wider differences.

The beach, for little ones
Most families with young children treat the beach as a short outing rather than the whole day. Sea conditions change with the tide and the season, so look for local signage, ask the property team about the day, and keep children within arm's reach near the water. A shorter transfer from the villa makes it easier to go in the cooler hours and return for a nap.
On the listed distances, Casa de KTN Villa is 0.8 km from Nagaon Beach, Aatmana Villa is 0.85 km from Akshi Beach and Coast House is 1 km from Awas Beach. Frequently asked questions
Do Alibaug villa pools have a shallow end?
Among the pages we reviewed, most describe a uniform depth of 4.5 ft, so a shallow end is not listed. Ask the team about steps or a shallow area for your villa.
Which Privy Stays villa has a children's pool?
Kurul Villa lists a children's pool adjacent to the main pool. The other villa pages we reviewed do not mention one.
Are there ground floor bedrooms for young children and grandparents?
Coast House lists all six bedrooms on the ground floor, and Kurul Villa lists four of its five. Check the property page or ask the team for the villa you prefer.
Should I take a private pool villa or a resort with a shared pool?
It depends on how you like to supervise. A private pool gives you control of access. A shared pool means other guests are around. Either way, an adult should be within arm's reach of a young child near the water.
